  This page is for the facilitation of the comprehension of the subject presented on this server,  for more conscious navigation in  its domain, and for a stimulation of  the creative thinking of the visitors.

 

  These pages take a top-down approach to the fundamental concepts of  Knowledge Engineering, Management, Cognitive High-Intelligence Research and Socio-cognitive Engineering.

The key issues are explained and fundamental definitions for the top conceptualization platform are proposed. Socio-cognitive engineering is considered a basic mental tool which should enable to comprehend, to think and act in the real world of every intelligent entity, i.e. from  persons to nations [Gadomski, 2003].

  Modern  advanced sciences and technologies are complex, their domains of interest are continuously extending, they are covering always new fields of human activities and humans knowledge about  themselves.

  An unique global network of  social, cognitive, economical, technological and physical interrelations, processes, systems and ... interests is visible always better but it represents an irreducible complexity [Gadomski, 2004].

  On the other hand, the intelligence of  human civilization has to cope with always more complex not imaginable before problems.

  From the individual, organizational, social, as well as, national and worldwide perspectives. a scientific identification of our identity and our capacities of self-management became crucial, see for example,

Irreducible complexity and uncertainty of socio-cognitive problems need a completely new theory-based reconceptualization of our research language and requires different meta- , meta-meta- ... perspectives with, more then presently used, formal generalizations structures. We need some 

physics like computational theory of mind (or a meta-mind, or a generalized mind, or generalized/synthetic /abstract intelligence).

 

The explosive and fragmented development of AI technologies, the increasing number of research communities which work on seemingly similar problems, but build their hermetic perspectives, creates the need for a common theoretical foundation.

In seeking a solution one should consider the big success of physics in the beginning of XX century, when one coherent conceptualization and representation system has been created and accepted by all physicists, laying the base for enormously sophisticated and successful applications of physics in other sciences and engineering. Critical to this success was the assumption of the great physicists that the really useful theory must be elegant, pretty and simple to understand.

Such approach should enable to develop computational models and theories,  for simulations, foreseen/forecast, and finally,  for the planning and decision-making  in scales and ranges not achievable at present.

At the beginning, on this web pages, an approach to an unified view which try to encompass  the essence of meta-knowledge (and meta-..meta-knowledge) is shortly presented (Meta-Knowledge Unified Framework) .

 

In parallel, the server http://erg4146.casaccia.enea.it presents on-going continuously incrementing results of the ENEA's research in this  subject domain. It also intends to give some synthetic opinions on the state of the art in the subject matter, and, sometimes,  we try to answer - why ? and how?
