Functional definition: to allocate a term, sentence, question, explanation ..., in the context of a conceptual system; to add meaning to/interpret a signal (textual, vocal, optical).

More formal in TOGA, to allocate information in some knowledge system.

Comprehention enables a reasoning and is necessary but not sufficient for understanding.

Context: Communication between any natural and artificial systems with capability of reasoning, i.e. humans, software knowledge based systems.

Visibility: Not directly visible. Only possible, but not necessary, consequences of a comprehention may be visible for external observers,
